Why we exist

Most kids' sport in India is unmeasured.

Indian parents have a clear way to know if their child is improving in school: marks, ranks, percentiles. Sport has none of that. A parent pays ₹3,500 a month for a cricket academy and gets a vague "he's improving" — no way to see whether their child is actually getting better, and no way to compare against age-appropriate norms.

It's why so many families drop sport by age 11. Not because the child stopped enjoying it — because the parent stopped being able to see the value.

Over 18 months we read the sport-science literature, studied how world-class youth programmes operate, spoke with paediatric sports physicians and certified coaches — and ran three pilot cohorts with 42 children across two Indore venues. The model works. Pilot kids gained a median 14 percentile points in 12 weeks. 91% completed the full cycle. Parent NPS was 67.

The research

Early specialisation hurts more than it helps.

The AAP, IOC and AOSSM all warn against single-sport specialisation before age 12 — citing higher rates of overuse injury, burnout and early dropout.

Motor patterning, balance and coordination are most receptive between ages 5 and 12 — the "skill-hungry years." Movement learned here is the substrate for every adult sport.

Percentiles are calculated against age (1-year bands) and gender. A strong 8-year-old isn't compared to a strong 13-year-old; a strong girl isn't compared to a strong boy. It's not a competitive ranking — it's a personalised picture, so every child gets credit for the progress that's actually theirs.

What we won't do — even if it would grow us faster.

We've watched what happens to children in programmes that take shortcuts. These six principles are written down so the temptation never reaches us when scale pressure comes.

Specialise children before 12.

Multi-sport rotation is non-negotiable — even when parents ask for it. The research on early specialisation is too clear to ignore.

Rank kids publicly.

No leaderboards. No "Best of Batch" awards. No public scoring boards. Every child's percentile stays private to their family.

Run adult training loads.

Volumes and intensities follow age-appropriate LTAD guidance. No "more is better" thinking. No grinding 8-year-olds.

Allow 1-on-1 without parent visibility.

Ever. No exceptions. Even for makeup sessions. Even for "just five more minutes." This is the safeguarding bright line.

Fudge the numbers.

If a child plateaus or regresses on a metric, the report shows it — and we explain why. We're accountable to the data, not to optics.

Expand faster than coach quality allows.

A new batch requires a verified, trained coach — not just demand. We'll turn families away before compromising who delivers sessions.

Background-verified coaches

Police verification, identity verification, and two reference checks before any coach is assigned a batch. PCC refreshed annually.

CPR + first-aid certified

Every coach completes CPR and child-first-aid certification within 30 days of joining. A first-aid kit is on the field every session.

Insurance included

Every enrolled child is covered by personal accident insurance during scheduled sessions. Policy documents on request.

We're a multi-sport programme, not a three-sport one. We start with football, athletics & agility, and kabaddi — chosen because together they cover ~80% of the foundational movement patterns a child 7–14 needs. From Month 7 we add basketball, cricket fielding, badminton and throwball. By Year 2 the roadmap includes swimming, volleyball, gymnastics fundamentals, hockey footwork and more.
Every month you'll receive a one-page PDF report card via WhatsApp. It shows scores on 9 fitness metrics with age- and gender-adjusted percentiles, plus the month-on-month delta. You'll see exactly what's improving, by how much, and what we're focusing on next.
Absolutely. A meaningful share of our families use Sprata alongside a single-sport academy — the multi-sport work strengthens their primary sport's foundation. We don't try to replace what's working; we add the dimensions a single-sport academy can't cover.
We have a 30-day satisfaction window. If your child isn't engaged after 4 weeks, we'll refund the unused portion. We also do a 1-on-1 chat with you and your child to understand what's not landing — sometimes a small change (different batch time or coach) fixes it.
Background-verified, CPR + first-aid certified coaches. Personal accident insurance for every enrolled child. Sessions in open, observable settings — no 1-on-1 coach-child situations without parent visibility. Full safeguarding policy available at sprata.in/safeguarding and visible at every venue.
We expect attendance to dip in February–March. We hold your spot at no charge if you let us know, and make up missed weeks with a comeback bonus week in April.
